The five essential qualities you need to cultivate and practice!

Perhaps you’re aspiring to a manager’s position with National Agents Alliance. Maybe you’ve just been promoted and now have cold feet – me, manager! – how do I learn how to be a good manager? Still other scenarios include people going in to business for themselves, who require a staff and some good managerial skills. Management positions may require skills specific to the organization.

Then again, there are five basic management qualities which fit any organization that you can learn with practice. If you cultivate these qualities, you’ll be well on the road to being a good manager with National Agents Alliance or any other company really.

Let’s take a look at each and see how these basics can help you succeed in management.

1. Know how to perform each employee’s job. Previously self employed people usually have this one down. As your business grows, you hire new people to do tasks you no longer have the time to do yourself.

But if you’ve never actually done it yourself how can you know how to help others get better at it? You can’t. That’s why it’s so important that you start selling right away with National Agents Alliance so that you set a good example for your team. You’ll gain respect from staff and your own managers.

2. Leadership qualities, along with good planning and organizational skills are required of the successful manager. After all, you’re the manager. Your staff looks to you to plan and organize team objectives and lead them to a successful conclusion.

This is why you’re the manager! Fortunately, with National Agents Alliance nobody’s reinventing the wheel so good planning is as easy as following the structure that’s laid out.

3. Learning how to be a good manager requires that you cultivate objectivity. As a manager, you cannot play favorites. Everyone naturally gravitates towards personalities with whom they have common interests. As a manager, you’ve got to toss that out the window when making decisions that affect your team. Base your business decisions on business issues.

You must learn to set your personal preferences aside and focus strictly on what’s good for the team objective. This often means spending more time with those who show they are serious about building their National Agents Alliance business and follow instructions well.

4. While it’s necessary to retain a certain distance from your staff, this doesn’t mean that you must adopt a superior attitude. Your team does the majority of the work, but you possess the wherewithal to make it all coalesce into a successful venture. While you direct the actions of your staff, demonstrating respect, fairness, understanding, guidance and encouragement is a win-win proposition.

Again, you gain respect on both sides. Rewarding good performance inspires your team to exceed the previous standard. National Agents Alliance strongly believes in recognition in reward. It’s apparent through their weekly leader boards and diamond rings that are given away at the end of the year.

5. One of the major signatures of a manager who has mastered the lessons of how to be a good manager with National Agents Alliance is he is genuinely interested in the personal lives of his agents as well as their business. He helps his team meet both their personal and professional goals by acting as their witness and their cheerleader.

Encourage your people to attain a higher level of skill and provide the means with which they may prosper in their careers and YOU will be rewarded handsomely.

These are the essential qualities of a good manager with

National Agents Alliance and NAA Power Players.

Ellen St.George Godfrey - Entrepreneurial Coach

It may sound strange to hear, but many people are programmed for failure. We come up with all sorts of rationalizations, but what it really comes down to is that we are used to not succeeding. We learn all kinds of habits that defeat us, from putting off work over and over again to repeating self-defeating predictions to ourselves until they become self-fulfilling prophecies.

Success coaching combined with the National Agents Alliance system is a simple idea, but a powerful one: by focusing on learning the techniques, habits, and skills of successful sales people, we can all become more productive, successful, and happy people.

Of course, the idea of success coaching isn’t exactly new. As matter of fact, it has its antecedents in many disciplines of psychology. Freud himself did a lot of work on the self-defeating and self-undermining attitudes that so many people have. He had his own theory about why they occur, as other psychologists had their own theories.

The success coach doesn’t focus so much on the theories as on the behaviors themselves. In success coaching, we don’t really try to look for the underlying causes, but find out the ways you can break through the behaviors.

I have friends who are success coaches and I think they really rubbed off on me. Ultimately, I have always been the kind of person who has to make his own mistakes.

I only started to taste success with National Agents Alliance after I decided to focus on independently on National Agents Alliance.

I knew that I had to take a stand and change my habits to focus 100% of my time on my one business and things would take off. I looked at my own life and business habits, and made a list of everything I do wrong and everything I do right.

Then I systematically decided how I was going to transform my worst habits into my best. Imagine that, turning your worst habit into your best attribute each year. It wouldn’t be long before you’ve completely transformed your character identity for the better of course.

For me, success coaching is about positively impacting the lives of other people and benefiting from those relationships for the rest of my life. There are a lot of success coaches out there, but none of them have an actual business system to help you achieve freedom.

And freedom is what everybody really wants and needs so that they can create more time to focus on those things they want to change in their life. (That’s why I partnered with National Agents Alliance.)

Many success coaches just scream at you from behind to “get going” but all that fuel does you no good without a map to follow.

It’s like stepping your foot down on the electric peddle in those go carnival go carts that seem to spin all over the place without having total control of your direction.

Sure there are those who already have a solid business and system to follow but in most cases, those people already have mentoring or coaching from the person who taught them the business. Most people need success coaching but they need a business system to go with it.

And even when you have the best mentor money can buy who tells you exactly what to do, you’re still going to fail and make mistakes. But you have to learn to love making mistakes and grow from them. Sometimes having to figure things out yourself makes the understanding much deeper.

Nonetheless, I still wish that I had a success coach in those early years to tell me exactly what I needed to do. It would have made my learning curve much shorter and saved me a lot of time and money.

Fortunately, NAA has a network of a few thousand agents who network and share ideas with each other through daily conference calls, recorded audios and live events. You just can’t get a better support system than this. Click the link for a taste of National Agents Alliance Success Coaching.

Management leadership skill is a buzzword nowadays. As a matter of fact, you hear about management leadership training so much that some people start to wonder whether or not it is important. After all, do you want everyone to be leaders? Is management training really the solution for your business?

National Agents Alliance answers with a resounding “YES!” A lot of people nowadays are switching to a less authoritarian and more cooperative corporate model. Back in the day, it was all about who is the boss and who is the worker. It was the responsibility of the little man to do as he was told, and of the big man to give directions.

Nowadays, however, effective management of human resources means that everyone has to do their part as a team. It isn’t so much about giving orders and taking orders. Instead, it is about getting the job done.

At National Agents Alliance it’s about following the system that the people before you followed so that you can replace them…

Customer service training is one part of the solution. You can’t neglect customer service, no matter what business you’re in. After all, no matter how good your product or service, if the customer isn’t happy, you don’t succeed.

You won’t get repeat business, you will not get a good reputation, and ultimately your business will probably fail. Management training should focus around making the customer happy. This is the end goal, after all. Everything else is secondary.

Of course, management leadership skills are also very important and that’s why National Agents Alliance hosts daily conference calls, offers recorded audios and organizes live leadership events all over the country. Management training for leadership can take many forms.

It can be an in-house seminar, a weekly course, or even an outdoor retreat. It doesn’t matter so long as effective leadership skills are taught. It is not enough to talk the talk either.

Some people are born leaders and some aren’t, but everyone can improve their abilities to lead. And leaders are born through association with other leaders who were once followers following a leader. You need to walk the walk.

Require your employees to show their skills from day one. You can make hard demands on them. If you give them more responsibility, they will feel more a part of the team. Empower people to become leaders of the group by delegating responsibility.

They won’t want to let you down. This is something that’s very important to both National Agents Alliance and the NAA Power Players team. We believe in putting the tools in everyone’s hands to apply to their life and transform into a leader. Whether each person chooses to use these tools is up to him/her.

One of the most important, but often neglected aspects of management training is conflict management. Managers are, after all the ultimate peacemakers.

It is difficult to explain how important it is to have a workplace where everyone gets along well. It makes the job more pleasant, which increases employee productivity and employees loyalty.

Your employees will stay with you longer, and they will do a better job while there. National Agents Alliance instituted the 8 Team Player Stems guide to help agents understand the character that’s expected.

Here are the 9 steps that you can follow to become a leader with National Agents Alliance and every other business opportunity.

1. Commitment to Personal Growth

Spend 30 minutes learning something new every day and immediately turn around and teach someone what you learned.  Read the latest books and attending seminars and workshops in your field.  Ask for feedback from your national agents alliance team and clients on a regular basis and always try to get better.

2. Inspire Others

Be the cheerleader in someone’s corner and root for them when no one else will.  That’s how you will build trusted and long lasting meaningful relationships with people

3. Provide benefit based answers to the question “What do you do?”

Instead of saying, “I sell mortgage protection,” you might say, “I help people protect their families so their children have a place to live in the event of a death or disability.”  Tell people what makes national agents alliance or your company special. You might say, “We refund our clients premiums at the end of the term if they never needed to use the policy.”

4. Be Genuinely Interested in People

Ask questions that show your interest in the other individual. Make your personality as well as your service memorable.  Help them see that national agents alliance is not your ordinary financial services company.

5. Become Laser Targeted with Your Approach

Create a list of people with whom you want to work or do business. Attend seminars or national agents alliance workshops and network at every opportunity. If someone does not need your service, he or she might know someone who does.

Keep a supply of business cards with you at all times. When you have built a business relationship with someone or gained a satisfied client, ask for referrals. Personal references will bring a large percentage of your business.

6. Communicate Powerfully

Always remember to ask, listen and clarify. Ask questions to understand people’s desires. Listen closely for the emotional motivation in their answer. Then clarify by repeating back what you understand. Often the clues to their real feelings are in their body language.  Pay attention facial expressions and change of positions.  It usually means something.

7. Lead People How they Want to Be Led

Think of three leaders that you admire. At National Agents Alliance, all three leaders have different leadership styles which is what makes naa so strong.  What leadership skills do you admire in them?  Be aware of the way you lead others because not everybody wants to be led the same way.

8. Take Care of Mind and Body

The body and the mind feed off each other.  When one is ill it will affect the other.  Follow a sound wellness program that includes regular exercise and a proper diet. Schedule time for both relaxation and meditation.

9. Give First then Receive

We receive only after we give. Give as much value to your clients and partners without expectation of return and the rewards of greatness will follow.
