Management leadership skill is a buzzword nowadays. As a matter of fact, you hear about management leadership training so much that some people start to wonder whether or not it is important. After all, do you want everyone to be leaders? Is management training really the solution for your business?

National Agents Alliance answers with a resounding “YES!” A lot of people nowadays are switching to a less authoritarian and more cooperative corporate model. Back in the day, it was all about who is the boss and who is the worker. It was the responsibility of the little man to do as he was told, and of the big man to give directions.

In our society, there is a lot of discussion about expressing yourself. Everyone wants to get their point across, but people don’t necessarily worry about listening nearly as much. In my opinion, asking questions is every bit as important a skill as expressing your own opinions.

Everyone has an opinion, but by asking the right questions you can refine yours. You can learn from the life experiences of those you come across, and improve your own body of knowledge. Most importantly for the sake of this article, you can help your clients most effectively when using the National Agents Alliance sales system.

Asking questions is an art form. It isn’t just a matter of asking any question that comes to mind. Everyone has had that friend who asks stupid questions all the time, as if begging other people to think for them.

Knowing what to ask and what not to ask can make the difference between a good impression and a bad impression. Whether you’re going in for an interview, meeting a neighbor, or getting together with a very close friend, or a client in your National Agents Alliance business.

You are going to be judged by what you ask as well as by what you say.

Asking open ended questions is a great way to make a good impression and show people that you really care about what they have to say. The great thing about an open ended question is that it can really keep the conversation going.

During your 1st month in Power Start™ you’ll be scheduled to attend a 2 day boot camp at the National Agents Alliance home office.  At this conference you’ll learn from our business partners about their products and strategies.  You’ll hear from a few high producing agents about their approach and how you can apply it in your business.

Let’s say you are moving to small town where you will be conducting your business as insurance agent for National Agents Alliance and you don’t really know anybody. Here are the tips that can help you with these roadblocks:

1. Get to know other business owners

Find out how did they start? How long they were in business? What were the first steps they took? What challenges did they have to face? How did they end up in this town? Listen carefully and evaluate what worked and what didn’t. This information can help tremendously in making the right decision about whether to start or not and what strategy to use.

2. It is all about the first impression

Make sure that when you start your business you are remembered and recognized as someone who is trustworthy and accountable. Small town people are more intimate and like to talk about what is new. So let people know what you doing and who you are.

3. Do market research

Find out who else is in insurance industry and get to know them. Take time to discover their reputation.

4. Familiarize yourself with local regulations

Make sure that your business is legit and that you have proper insurance for conducting sales.

5. Know your community

Will your market come from second and third generation local residents? Or are you serving those who relocated recently from urban areas?

6. Build relationships

Attract key leaders in town and ask for referrals.

And in a small town, you’ll be expected to be a super-citizen. Choose alliances and sponsorships carefully. Prepare for all sorts of friendly requests to donate time, materials and money.
